Project CETI Sperm Whale Birth Videos with Segmentations and Annotations

This dataset provides detailed aerial drone videos of a sperm whale birth event recorded by Project CETI, as well as segmentations and annotations generated by processing these videos. The videos span approximately 4 hours of the event, which features complex cooperative behavior among 11 sperm whales and the newborn. Segmentation masks and orientations of sperm whales in the video frames were generated via custom machine learning pipelines and then manually verified/adjusted. An expert also manually identified whales throughout the videos, which links this data to historical kinship and behavioral data about this whale unit.
