Neural stem cells were sorted according to their activated or quiescent state by flow cytometry using a set of 3 markers (LeX, CD24 and EGFR) We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression underlying the proliferation/quiescence balance. Neural stem cells were freshly sorted from adult mouse subventricular zone by flow cytometry and Affymetrix GeneChip MOE 430 2.0 microarrays were hybridized.
