Built upon field measurements, remote sensing data and reconstructed datasets, this database has a temporal coverage ranging from 1127 to 2026 and global spatial coverage. WGMS is supported by various institutions including the International Science Council (ISC), the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNESCO), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
