Gut Microbiota Variation in Sympatric North American Bison Subspecies

The goal is to assess gut microbiome variation between subspecies of North American bison in the sympatric setting of Elk Island National Park (Alberta, Canada). Fecal samples were passively collected from both subspecies within a 72 hour period to assess gut microbiome divergence between subspecies due to phylogenetic and habitat use differences.
