Characterization of mcr-5 harbouring Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium from pig production and (pork) meat

Mobilized colistin resistance (MCR) is known to be caused by phosphoethanolamine transferases. In this study we detected eighth mcr-5 harbouring Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium isolated from pig production and (pork) meat in Germany. These isolates were characterized regarding mcr-5 plasmid diversity and mcr-5 transposon structure.
