Comparative analysis of isoproterenol and lipopolysaccharide mediated cytoprotective responses in the heart

This study aimed to compare the mechanisms by which isoproterenol and lipopolysaccharide induce cytoprotection in the heart. We performed bulk RNA sequencing to compare the transcriptomic effects of isoproterenol and lipopolysaccharide on the heart, to examine features that are shared and unique to each treatment. Overall design: Female 10-wk old wild-type (C57BL/6J) mice were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 2.5 mg/kg) or isoproterenol (ISO; 300 mg/kg). Mice were then euthanized at baseline (no treatment) and at 1 and 7 days later (n=3-4/group) with hearts collected for bulk RNA sequencing.
