We have isolated a novel strain of Stenotrophomonas from sewage water, which is showing high resistance and metabolism capacity towards arsenic. This strain volatilized the arsenic from the media up to 60% after 48 hours of incubation. It also has most of the arsenic resistant and methylation genes to metabolize them within 48 hours.
