AI Dependency and Empowerment - Dataset

Grounded in dependency theory, this study examines how individuals’ reliance on generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) shapes perceived user empowerment in AI-mediated health information seeking. Drawing on a dual-path model of Gen AI dependency, the study investigates how utilitarian and companionate dependency on Gen AI are associated with individuals’ intentions to seek health information and follow AI-generated health advice via perceived empowerment.
