The HiBio program was financed by DFO essentially in order to provide a baseline studies to support decisions about the establishment of a new Marine Protected Area (MPA) in the Labrador Sea off-shelf Hatton Basin. Local measurement of the ocean current and records of mammals bioacoustics vocalizations are collected to better understand the soundscape that current and future fishing operations have in this potential marine protected areas.
