Generation of reference root nodule transcriptomes of the legumes Medicago sativa cv. Algonquin and Melilotus officinalis to aid future genetic studies of symbiotic nitrogen fixation, and to facilitate a comparison of the expression profiles of the nodule-specific cysteine-rich (NCR) peptides encoded by these plants.
