Prevalence and genomic characterization of Group A Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis isolated from patients with invasive infection in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis

Group A SDSE strains accounted for 9% in all SDSE strains isolated from bacteremia patients of a central hospital in Toyama prefecture, Japan. The six strains of Group A SDSE were phylogenetically close to each other and another group A SDSE strain. The group A SDSE strains possessed highly conserved cell wall synthesis genes in Streptococcus pyogenes but not in group G or C SDSE.
