A plasma microRNA sequencing project containing 91 individuals was done recently. The aim of this study is to comprehensively profile the potential microRNAs for diagnosis and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction. 91 individuals were divided into three groups, acute myocardial infarction group (n=54), acute myocardial infarction followed by reperfusion therapy group (n=20), and healthy control group (n=17). The acute myocardial infarction group was further subdivided into two pathological subgroups, STEMI (n=32) and NSTEMI (n=22) subgroups. Plasma was separated from venous blood of each individual and then small RNA from each plasma sample was extracted and then subjected to library-construction and high-throughput sequencing by using NGS technology, respectively. Bioinformatics and statistical analyses were conducted to identify the potential biomarkers involved in diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction.
