The aim of this project is to provide a computational framework to analyse existing field data and relate P availability in Fanshawe Reservoir to external and internal P loading. A two-dimensional model was developed for Fanshawe Reservoir using the Hydrodynamic and Water Quality Model CE-QUAL-W2 software. The model combines hydrodynamic, water quality, and sediment diagenesis modules. The simulation results imply a major role of internal P loading during the summer when the reservoir stratifies. Retention of P mainly occurs during wintertime, while the reservoir is a source of P during summertime. The CE-QUAL-W2 model software is open sources which can be found in http://www.ce.pdx.edu/w2/. The dissolved oxygen, algal growth, and internal and external loading of P were simulated in different scenarios and results are discussed in https://uwspace.uwaterloo.ca/handle/10012/16346.
