Single cell gene expression profiling of the response of the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus neurons to cardiac ischemia [DMV_Cardiac-Ischemia_RT-PCR]

We developed a mesoscale single cell transcriptomics data from hundreds of the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus (DMV) neurons under homeostasis and following physiological perturbations. Our results revealed that homeostatic DMV neuronal states can be organized into distinguishable input-output signal processing units. Chronic cardiac ischemic injury resulted in a dramatic shift in DMV neuronal states suggestive of enhanced neurosecretory function. Male sprague dawley rats were subjected to ligation of the left anterior decending artery after exteriorizing the heart through a small left thoracotomy. Sham surgery included ketamine/xylazine anesthesia and surgical exposure without ligation. n=3-4 biological replicates. All samples were collected after either 1 week or 3 weeks post surgery.
