The files here contain a set of prefered indexes of electoral competition in 14 major Indian states. Ancillary and alternative indexes are also provided. The longest time period covered (for some indexes) is from 1952 to 2012. Some of the indexes begin at later dates (e.g., from the early 1970s) depending on the information required to compute them, and many of the series end in 2009.
