海南岛（包括海南岛及其近岸礁岛、河口沙岛）地处热带，位于北纬18度9分34秒-20度9分43秒，东经108度36分46秒-111度16分25秒之间。海南岛北隔琼州海峡与雷州半岛相对，西濒北部湾与越南人民共和国遥望，岛的南面是南海海域及位于南海的西沙群岛、中沙群岛、南沙群岛等岛屿，岛的东部隔南海与菲律宾相望。海南岛总面积34,012.58 km2， 海岸线总长2447.54 km。海南岛是中国仅次于台湾岛的笫二大岛。海南岛地貌特征中心髙，四周低。最髙处五指山海拔高度1867m。海南岛气候炎热多雨、长夏无冬、干湿季明显。年平均气温22摄氏度以上，最冷月（一月）平均气温髙于16摄氏度，≧10摄氏度年积温8200摄氏度以上。降水充沛，全岛大部分地区年均降雨量在1500-1800mm之间，中部山地髙达2000-2500mm。其中，80%左右的雨量降在5-10月份的雨季。海南岛界线数据是在2015年google earth 影像数据基础上开发得到，数据以.kmz 和 .shp两种数据格式存储。

Hainan Island (including Hainan Island itself, its nearshore reef islands and estuarine sand islands) is situated in the tropical zone, with its geographic coordinates ranging from 18°9'34''N to 20°9'43''N and 108°36'46''E to 111°16'25''E. To its north, it faces the Leizhou Peninsula across the Qiongzhou Strait; to its west, it borders the Beibu Gulf and faces the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; to its south lies the South China Sea and islands such as the Xisha Islands, Zhongsha Islands and Nansha Islands within the South China Sea; and to its east, it faces the Philippines across the South China Sea. With a total area of 34,012.58 km² and a total coastline length of 2447.54 km, Hainan Island is the second largest island in China after Taiwan Island. The geomorphology of Hainan Island features high terrain in the center and low terrain around the periphery, with the highest point being Wuzhi Mountain at an elevation of 1867 m. The island has a hot and rainy climate, characterized by long summers without winters and distinct dry and wet seasons. The annual average temperature exceeds 22°C, with the average temperature of the coldest month (January) being higher than 16°C, and the annual accumulated temperature ≥10°C reaching over 8200°C. Precipitation is abundant across the island: most regions have an annual average rainfall of 1500–1800 mm, while the central mountainous areas receive as much as 2000–2500 mm. Approximately 80% of the annual rainfall falls during the rainy season from May to October. The boundary data of Hainan Island was developed based on Google Earth imagery data from 2015, and is stored in two data formats: .kmz and .shp.
