News articles from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, transcripts from CNN, and statements in the Congressional Record about climate change are coded for the valence of four frames: problem definition, causal interpretation, responsibility, and solutions. Statements in these articles that affirm the scientific consensus are coded with a valence of 1, statements that discredit the scientific consensus are coded with a valence of 3. Mixed statements are coded with a valence of 2.
