Black and white photograph showing Miriam Wakefield at Ama Achara hospital in southeast Nigeria, run by the Methodist Missionary Society. She wears a checked dress and a head-wrap (known as a "gele.") Miriam was brought to the hospital to be cared for by the mission at five months old in 1923. This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital.
