The study aims to sequence and assemble the genome of Lecanora helva, a lichen-forming fungus, using single-spore culture and advanced PacBio HiFi sequencing technology. By generating a high-quality genome assembly, this research seeks to enhance our understanding of the genetic basis underlying the symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae in lichens, as well as the ecological adaptations of Lecanora helva. The single-spore culture approach minimizes genetic variability, ensuring an accurate and comprehensive representation of the species genomic structure.
