Host-based transcriptome analysis of Oxycarenus laetus

Oxycarenus laetus is a polyphagous insect that feeds on Gossypium hirsutum, Abelmoschus esculentus, Abutilon indicum, Sida rhombifolia , S. rhomboidea and manu other plants belonging to Malvaceae family. This seed feeder is a pest of cotton in Southern Asia. Considering the economical loss caused by insect and wide range of host preference, we have analyzed the transcriptome of O. laetus that was fed on A. indicum (indian mallow), G. hirsutum and gossypol (secondary metabolite present in cotton plant) enriched diet.
