Morphologic variations of Ehrenbergina stack

The investigation of the benthic Foraminifera of the South Shetland Island,
allowed us to detect the presence of abundant units of E. parva in Caleta
Balleneros and Puerto Foster stations (Deception Island), which in addition
showed a wide morphologic variation of the shell. Ten summit sediment samples
were recovered with the purpose of carrying out a census of the Foraminifera
population. These Foraminifera presented a remarkable variation in the form of
the shells, illustrating the reason why they have been determined like
Cassidulinoides parkerianus by some authors. Its distribution is restricted to
the south of the Antarctica convergence: Ross and Weddel Seas and Bransfield
Strait.
