Manifestations of suburbanization in urban agglomerations in Poland before 1989. Research data

The database contains data on manifestations of suburbanization in urban agglomerations in Poland prior to 1989, that is, before the contemporary phase of suburban area development. The research focuses in particular on the morphological transformations that occurred between 1800 and 1989 in rural localities located in the hinterlands of the eight largest urban agglomerations in Poland (Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Łódź, the Tricity, Poznań, Szczecin, and the Katowice conurbation). Various research methods were employed, with a primary focus on the analysis of cartographic materials. One of the aims of the study was also to define the concept and specificity of suburbanization in Central and Eastern Europe.
