3个杨树新品种是从美洲黑杨与小叶杨杂交的杂种第一代中选育出的。这个杂交组合是黑杨派与青杨派的派间杂交。杂交母本为美洲黑杨I一69杨, 杂交父本为小叶杨, 以不同产地的小叶杨花粉对美洲黑杨进行人工控制授粉。根据育种程序, 进行无性系的生长适应性和遗传稳定性测定, 在江苏、山东等地开展区域化试验。与此同时充分应用现代实验手段, 对生根性状的遗传变异, 生长的早期选择, 树冠结构与生长关系, 于形改良, 抗寒性、抗旱性和材性等8个重要性状进行了深入而全面的研究。与速生的母本I一69杨相比, 7年生材积生长的超亲优势率达8.?3%一13, 86%, 生根能力强, 造林成活率在96%以上, 对褐斑病和水泡型溃疡病表现出高抗和中抗, 干形饱满, 材质优良, 抗旱性和抗寒性强。

Three new poplar varieties were selected from the first-generation hybrids of Populus deltoides × Populus simonii. This hybrid combination is an inter-sectional cross between section Aigeiros (black poplars) and section Tacamahaca (green poplars). The female parent of the cross was Populus deltoides clone I-69, while the male parent was Populus simonii; artificial controlled pollination was performed on Populus deltoides using pollen from Populus simonii collected from different provenances. Following the standard breeding procedure, tests on growth adaptability and genetic stability of the clones were conducted, with regional trials carried out in Jiangsu, Shandong and other regions. Meanwhile, modern experimental methods were fully utilized to conduct in-depth and comprehensive studies on eight key traits, including genetic variation of rooting traits, early selection for growth, the relationship between crown structure and growth, trunk shape improvement, cold resistance, drought resistance and wood properties. Compared with the fast-growing female parent I-69 poplar, the over-parent heterosis rate of volume growth at 7 years old reached 8.33% to 13.86%. These new varieties feature strong rooting ability, with afforestation survival rate exceeding 96%, show high resistance and moderate resistance to leaf spot disease and bubble canker respectively, have plump trunk shapes, excellent wood quality, as well as strong drought and cold resistance.
