资源简介:
This series comprises a flatfile database and views or variations of that database, whether they be in electronic, paper or other hard-copy format. The database was created by the Australian Science Archives Project (ASAP) to facilitate control of an appraisal and records processing project undertaken by them for the Zoological Board of Victoria (ZBV) between 1992 and 1994. The database is effectively the control record for the records which were the subject of the appraisal project. Those records identified through the appraisal project as being public records of permanent value have been transferred in VPRS 8850.The database created by ASAP was created using dBASE IV 1.5 software. The data structure of the database varied over the period of its use with fields being added or deleted as necessary. The final version, a copy of which is transferred in the P1 consignment of this series, comprised 56 fields for each record. The fields are listed at the foot of this registration. The data has been used and manipulated to produce the records description lists for VPRS 8850 and the reports in the P2 consignment of this series.P2 consignmentThe P2 consignment consists of a volume containing several reports generated by ASAP from the database. The volume was produced both as a paper finding aid to the records appraised and as an appraisal report for the Zoological Board of Victoria. It therefore contains additional information relating to the appraisal project that ASAP undertook. The reports generated from the database are:- detailed list of appraisal units in processor/appraisal unit number order. The order is alpha-numeric.- summary list of appraisal units in chronological order by earliest date of records in the appraisal unit.- summary list of appraisal units in alphabetical order by provenance group name and, for each group, alpha-numerically by processor/appraisal unit number. The additional information in the appraisal report is text which describes how to use the appraisal report, scope and methodology of the project, description of the database, descriptions and lists of provenance names and record types, recommendations and conclusions.Database structureField Number & Name1 - Processor2 - Appraisal Unit Number3 - SN4 - Location5 - Provenance6 - Type7 - Subject8 - Start date9 - End date10 - Quantity 111 - Quantity 212 - Notes13 - Recommendation14 - Archive15 - Manuscript16 - Typescript17 - Published18 - Audio/visual19 - Objects20 - Accounts21 - Correspondence22 - Data23 - DataGT24 - Illustrations25 - Drafts26 - Ephemera27 - Reports internal28 - Maps29 - Memoranda30 - Minutes31 - Newspaper clippings32 - Note books33 - Research notes34 - Plans35 - Proofs36 - Published book37 - Published paper38 - Published report39 - Publication40 - Sketches41 - Apparatus42 - Audio tape43 - Digital data44 - Display45 - Negatives46 - Glass negatives47 - Movie film48 - Photographs49 - Photographs - mounted50 - Samples51 - Slides microscope52 - slides photograph53 - Videotape54 - Photocopy55 - Other56 - Number of items
