Binaural Impulse Response Dataset Recorded in a Full Anechoic Chamber for Stereo Spatialization Research

This dataset was generated as part of the doctoral research “Analysis and Improvement of Distortions Caused by Listener Position in Stereo Sound Systems” by Uğur Baloğlu. The study focuses on characterizing and correcting spatial and spectral distortions that occur when a listener moves away from the stereo sweet spot. Binaural impulse responses were recorded at 192 kHz in the full anechoic chamber of TÜBİTAK UME on May 3rd, 2024. A custom-built binaural microphone equipped with Roland CS-10EM capsule elements, calibrated using Sonarworks SoundID Reference, was used as the primary transducer. Logarithmic sine sweep signals generated in REW were reproduced through a pair of Dynaudio LYD 7 loudspeakers positioned at 1 meter distance and 60° stereo angle. Recordings were obtained across a listener movement field of ±30 cm in horizontal displacement, with 5 cm resolution, and head azimuth rotations in 15° increments, covering a 180° sector. This resulted in a total of 169 binaural impulse response measurements, including both sweet spot reference responses and off-axis condition recordings.
