Global coral reefs marine heatwave induced thermal stress database (1982-2024)

This publicly available dataset offers a global assessment of marine heatwave-induced thermal stress metrics for coral reefs at the reef-pixel scale (~25 km) level from 1982 to 2024. It enhances understanding of how climate change impacts coral reef ecosystems by analyzing marine heatwaves and related thermal stress conditions over more than four decades. Jupyter notebooks and data to reproduce the figures in the submitted manuscript titled "Global Coral Reef Thermal Stress: Patterns, Trends, and Emerging Regimes" in Environmental Research Letters: Climate by Busireddy et al. (2025) are provided here.
