This dataset accompanies the paper “An investigation of the encirclement of Mars by dust in the 2018 global dust storm using the Ensemble Mars Atmosphere Reanalysis System (EMARS)”, which appears in the Journal of Geophysical Research – Planets. This experimental version of the Ensemble Mars Atmosphere Reanalysis System (EMARS) dataset contains hourly gridded atmospheric variables for the planet Mars, spanning the early portion of the 2018 Mars Year (MY) 34 global dust storm. A reanalysis represents the best estimate of the state of the atmosphere by combining observations that are sparse in space and time with a dynamical model and weighting them by their uncertainties. The dataset includes gridded fields of temperature, wind, surface pressure, and dust. This dataset is downloadable as a netCDF file. For additional details on EMARS, please see doi:10.18113/D3W375.
