Number of students in upper secondary education in Denmark 2013-2023, by origin

The number of students in upper secondary school in Denmark with an origin from non-western countries peaked at 15,500 in 2018, but has decreased slightly since, dropping below 14,700 in 2023. Meanwhile, the number of students from western countries increased steadily over the time period, reaching over 3,700 in 2023. The total number of students in upper secondary schools in Denmark decreased since 2017, mainly because the number of students with a Danish origin dropped from nearly 133,000 in 2017 to less than 122,000 in 2023.
