<i>Paradiospyroxylon kvacekii</i> gen. et sp. nov. from the Paleogene of the Czech Republic: a case study of individual variability and its significance for fossil wood systematics

The wood anatomy of <i>Paradiospyroxylon kvacekii</i> gen. et sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on material originating from the Ústí Formation’s volcanic deposits of České středohoří Mts. (Paleogene, Czech Republic). The sample, identified earlier as <i>Manilkaroxylon</i> sp., was critically examined and is interpreted as root wood and proposed as the paratype of <i>Paradiospyroxylon kvacekii</i>. This paper discusses how wood anatomical variation needs to be considered when making systematic and palaeoecological interpretations.基于采自捷克共和国古近纪捷克中央山脉（České středohoří）乌斯季组（Ústí Formation）火山沉积岩的标本材料，本文对新属新种*Paradiospyroxylon kvacekii*的木材解剖学特征进行了描述与图示。此前被鉴定为*Manilkaroxylon* sp.（未定种）的该样品，经严格检视后被认定为根材，并被提议作为*Paradiospyroxylon kvacekii*的副模式标本。本文探讨了在开展系统分类学与古生态学解释工作时，需如何考量木材解剖学特征的变异情况。
