Report on Temperature Corrections for Levelling Observations made at Australia's Antarctic Bases

Information from the report:This report discusses the types of error that affect levelling observations, in particular in Antarctic conditions. It examines levelling done in the local areas of Australia's three Antarctic stations (Casey, Davis and Mawson) and at Macquarie Island using either fibreglass or aluminium staffs. Corrected results are summarised and compared to levelling done with invar staffs (where possible) and full results shown in the appendix. All levelling results in this report were corrected for thermal contraction.The report was prepared by Matt King of the University of Tasmania in June 2000 and revised in November 2000.
