Exploring High Mach Shock Physics in the Galactic SNR G156.2+5.7

G156.2+5.7 is an Xray bright, large supernova remnant with evidence fornonthermal Xray emission from its rims, suggesting the presence of efficientshock acceleration of relativistic particles. It has been recently shown to havean extensive set of Balmer line optical emission that can be used to obtainmeasurements of the postshock proton temperature. This proposal aims to obtainEPIC pointings toward each of three separate portions of the rim in order tomeasure the postshock electron temperature from the thermal emission at theshock.
