资源简介:
Research data for to model retreat rates of coastal glacial cliffs along the western coast of Ireland using beryllium-10 concentrations from shore platforms. Our results indicate that shore platforms under glacial cliffs are partially relict features, formed prior to the Holocene and overlayed subsequently by glacial tills. Rising sea levels during the last glacial termination and Holocene caused erosion of the overlying tills and accelerating cliff retreat, before the stabilisation of both during the later Holocene. We also propose that higher and rougher shore platforms result in slower cliff retreat, suggesting that such conditions reduce the direct influence of waves and tides on erosion and subaerial weathering becomes the primary agent of cliff retreat.
Content:
'DSM' contains the digital surface models for Silverstrand and Renvyle (reference system: WGS84)
'input' contains all necessary input data and parameters to run the models that are described in the paper
'src' contains all model codes
'results' contains all main results
Figures are stored within respective the .mat-files. For generating all figures from the models, load the required .mat-file (e.g., SIL_1cm_max20change.mat) into MATLAB.
