miR-93 Regulates Proliferation of Bovine Mammary Epithelial Cells by Targeting CDKN1A

As global warming intensifies, the impact of heat stress on agricultural livestock farming is be-coming increasingly severe. To mitigate the effects of heat stress on milk production in dairy cows, it is necessary to understand the regulatory mechanisms of mammary gland epithelial cells (BMECs) in response to heat stress. MiR-93 is one of the microRNAs closely associated with the proliferation of BMECs. This study found that heat stress inhibited the proliferation of BMECs and significantly downregulated the expression of endogenous miR-93. Furthermore, over-expression of miR-93 promoted the proliferation of BMECs. TargetScan predicted that CDKN1A is a target gene of miR-93. Over-expression of CDKN1A inhibited the proliferative effect of miR-93 on BMECs. The results of the study demonstrate that miR-93 promotes the proliferation of BMECs by targeting CDKN1A. These findings provide new research insights at the molecular level for addressing the issue of reduced milk production in dairy cows under heat stress condi-tions.
