Dataset for: Determinants of Enset Market Participation among Smallholder Farmers in Cheha District, Ethiopia

This dataset contains cross-sectional household survey data collected from smallholder enset (Ensete ventricosum) farmers in Cheha District, Gurage Zone, Central Regional State, Ethiopia. The purpose of the dataset is to analyze the determinants of enset market participation among rural farming households.

The data are stored in SPSS (.sav) format and include variables related to demographic characteristics (such as age, sex, education level, family size, and dependency ratio), socio-economic factors (including landholding size, livestock ownership, income sources, and asset ownership), and institutional factors (such as access to market information, extension services, credit access, and distance to the nearest market).

The dataset also includes key variables used in econometric analysis, such as a binary indicator of market participation and variables capturing the intensity of participation. These variables are suitable for models such as Probit and Heckman two-step estimation.

All data were collected through semi-structured questionnaires administered to sampled households. The dataset has been anonymized to remove any personally identifiable information and is intended solely for academic and research purposes.
