Supports

Reference of the supports of the SANDRE. This repository is developed following requests for user codifications. The technical secretariat of the Sandre controls the quality of this repository, it is the administrator of it. A medium means a component of the medium to which the investigation relates, usually sampled for subsequent analysis, in order to assess its quality and that of the medium. The substrate does not correspond to the substrate actually analysed since it is usually a fraction of the substrate which is analysed (e.g. for fish, liver, or water, raw water or filtered water is distinguished). The concept of analysed fraction should be used as a matter of priority. A support may be: - an inert component such as water, sediment, suspended solids which are generally the subject of physico-chemical and microbiological analyses; - a particular community of living beings living in the environment (benthic macro-invertebrates, macrophytes, diatoms, etc.), in which case, in the field of hydrobiology, these supports are usually called biological compartments or communities. A biological support refers globally to a group of living beings or taxa, the monitoring of which, in terms of stand or behaviour, is of major interest for the knowledge of the state of the aquatic environment in which they live. A biological support does not necessarily correspond to a taxonomic group resulting from systematics. These biological supports bring together a set of taxa with identical characteristics (physiological, morphological, habitat, etc.), and which may belong to very different taxonomic groups (examples: macrophytes refer globally to plants visible to the naked eye).
