This study assesses the state of circulating monocytes in diabetes, with or without delayed gastric emptying, using a Streptozotocin (STZ)-induced mouse model, CyTOF, and computational analysis. Our findings show two classical monocyte subsets to be altered in the setting of diabetes with delayed gastric emptying and possible role of monocyte trafficking via the Ccr2-Ccl2 axis. All experiments were conducted in compliance with the National Institutes of Health Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. All protocols were authorized by the Mayo Clinic Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (A561020).
