资源简介:
This dataset contains geolocated numerical abundance observations of floating ocean macroplastics, based on over 20,000 validated items. The observations have been made with the novel Automated Debris Imaging System, based on shipborne photo timelapses of GoPro action cameras and a Yolov5 object detection model. The numerical abundance observations are aggregated to 10 km segments, while the individual plastic items can be found as JPG thumbnails and their metadata in a CSV file.
The segments are available as geopackage (GPKG) for direct use in GIS applications, or as CSV, based on the segment centroids.The individual validated objects are described in the objects.csv table, which can be matched to the segments table using the SegmentID field.The archive named Object snippets.zip contains an object snippet for every row in the objects.csv table, which can be matched using the ID field.The attributes for the segments and objects files are detailed in the readme file.
Object photo snippets:The filenames represent the ID field in the object attributes table. Due to two different intermediate processing versions, some snippets contain imprinted bounding box information; others contain only the snippet itself.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
Dr. Thomas Mani, Dr. Matthias Egger, Dr. Fatimah Sulu-Gambari, Dr. Erik Zettler (NIOZ), Dr. Giuseppe Suaria (CNR-ISMAR), Marretje Adriaanse (Bark Europa), Regitze Andersen (Bark Europa), Nina Jolink (Bark Europa), Margot Thibault (Université de La Réunion), Kelsey Lane (SSV Robert C. Seamans). and Dr. Gennady Kantakov. We further thank Dr. Dmitry Glazov (IEE RAS, Russia), GoPro USA staff (Dr. Vadim Polonichko, Christopher Prado, David Newman), the International Year of the Salmon organization (Mark Saunders, Aidan Schubert, Camille Jasinski, Caroline Graham), the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission (Dr. Vladimir Radchenko, Carmel Lowe, Doug Mecum), and Richard Beamish, D.Sc. (Pacific Biological Station, Canada). Special thanks go the crews of the Maersk Tender and Trader for multi-year continuous support with data collection. The Ocean Cleanup staff members Julius Lein, Yannick Pham and Alessandro Iannarelly have been highly involved with backups and batch processing of the data. Finally, we also thank the students who have completed the extensive manual validation work: Ronaldyn Dabu, Lingyun Gao, Simon Pipers, Mareike Hein, Cecile Kwa, Diego Grendene, and Maksymilian Martys.
Additional thanks to Andrey Tretiakov, Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Russian Academy of Sciences (IEE RAS), Russia; Ed Farley, PhD, NOAA, Auke Bay Laboratories, USA; Evgeny Pakhomov, Professor IOF, UBC, Canada; Gennady Kantakov, PhD, FEEC, Russia; Jackie King, PhD, DFO, Pacific Biological Station, Canada; Laurie Weitkamp, PhD, NOAA, Northwest Fisheries Science Center, USA; Pavel Chukmasov, Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Russian Academy of Sciences (IEE RAS), Russia;
