Mesua ferrea is a non-edible oil-producing medicinal plant in the callophylaceae family. In the current study, Illumina low coverage whole genome sequencing was used to assemble organellar and low coverage genomes. These genome sequences can be useful in identifying SSRs and tandem repeats for genotyping experiments. Furthermore, the organellar sequences aid in understanding the phylogenetic relationship of this species within the Clusioid clade.
