We explore the genes and pathways related to metal ions involved in extracellular matrix, cell adhension and migration, expression of cytokine, antibacterial, inflammation, and cell signaling. Overall design: To investigate the potential osteogenic mechanism of PPH, we performed an mRNA expression profiling microarray. Male Sprague Dawley rats (10 weeks old, 320-350 g weight) were used to test the engineered hydrogels in vivo. For gene expression profiling microarray analysis, tibias were harvested at week 2.
