The strain belonging to Streptomycetes sp., has been isolated from a unique habitat of the limestone deposit sites located at Hundung, Manipur, India. Hundung limestone deposit site is a unique, non-rhizospheric habitat in Ukhrul, Manipur, India. The strain has potential for both biocontrol activity and plant growth promoting traits in rice plants. It also showed bioactivity towards Mycobacterium smegmatis in preliminary screening assays. The strain has been characterized as Streptomyces sp. MBRL 10.
