In the previous study, a thermophilic Thermobifida fusca strain UPMC 901, harboring a highly thermostable cellulolytic activity, was successfully isolated from oil palm empty fruit bunch compost. The thermal stability indicated that the endoglucanase activity of this strain was highly stable at high temperatures for a long period of time. Thus, the goal of the present study is to elucidate the particular gene encoding for the thermostable enzymes expressed by this bacterium. Accordingly, it is an object of the present study to provide a highly thermostable cellulase for its application in the food, textile, paper and pulp industry, agro-industrial biomass conversion and animal feed production.
