Adult stem cells possess the capacity for self-renewal and differentiation, playing a critical role in tissue regeneration, repair, and homeostasis maintenance. As aging occurs, these cells experience functional degradation, leading to reduced tissue regeneration ability and a higher incidence of diseases. Thus, effective treatments to prevent the decline in stem cell function due to aging are essential. The excessive proliferation of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) in Drosophila melanogaster during aging, influenced by various pathways, presents an ideal model for aging studies.
