The susceptibility of pupae of Gonipterus sp. 2 to the virulence of five entomopathogenic nematode species with different dispersal behaviors

This dataset is an illustrative of data of three chapters( 2, 3 & 4) for a Master's dissertation. The data in Chapter 2 consists of the mortality of uncased pupae of Gonipterus sp. 2 caused by five South African entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) species. The pupal mortality was recorded 48 hours post-inoculation with EPNs in 12-well bioassay plates. The data were subjected to one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine the significant effect of EPN species on pupal mortality. The data in Chapter 3 shows the dispersal distance traveled by infective juveniles of EPNs towards or away from wax moth larvae in Petri dishes. One-way ANOVA was used to determine the significant difference in dispersal distance towards or away from the host between EPNs. The data also shows the influence of a rough substrate and a smooth substrate on the dispersal distance traveled by infective juveniles of EPNs in Petri dishes. One-way ANOVA was used to determine the significant difference between the dispersal distance traveled by EPNs on a rough substrate and rough substrate. The data in Chapter 4 shows the effect of nematode-infected cadavers and aquoeus suspension application methods on the efficacy of Steinernema yirgalemense against cased pupae of Gonipterus sp. 2 in Greenhouse tirals. The mortality of pupae, buried in soil in 2 L capacity planting bags, was recorded seven days after exposure to S. yirgalemense. The data was subjected to student t-test to determine the effect of the application methods on the efficacy of S. yirgalemense against puape of Gonipterus sp. 2.
