The Failure-Trapdoor in the Glass Ceiling: Different Evaluation of Women and Men in Male-Dominated Occupations

The purpose of the study is to investigate, to what extent successful women in male-dominated occupations are rated differently than successful men and what influence a failure has on this evaluation. In addition, it is investigated if, despite of a rehabilitation, a failure is not forgiven, if this is especially the case when a successful woman in a male-dominated occupation is concerned and to what extent modern sexism plays a role in this relationship. For this purpose, the competence and sympathy ratings of a successful man and successful woman in a female and a male-dominated occupation are compared at three points in time (at the beginning, after a failure, after a rehabilitation).
