Strengthening Community and Protecting Threatened Species in Westernport Project 1

This project will deliver significant environmental improvements and long-term benefits to this Ramsar listed site which is of high community value. Threatening processes to be managed include weed invasion, erosion and sedimentation. Creating strong partnerships with local friends groups and Indigenous communities will significantly improve the condition of threatened ecological communities and protect species and their habitats (Eastern Curlew). The team will protect Indigenous cultural sites, by contributing to tasks such as developing an art and bushfood trail. Key management strategies include enhancing community understanding of values and public access management.
