Catalogue of Mean Sea Level Pressure Fields, West Antarctic Sector

Classification of atmospheric circulation by types ranged by their probability is carried out by means of statistically distinguished MSLP and geopotential fields. The most detail classification is carried out for the decade 1991-2000; other types are obtained for individual years /decades from 1971 till 2006. The main purpose is to show how lower-atmospheric circulation has been changed in the West Antarctic Sector (WAS) on time scales from interannual to decadal, with greatest interest to the recent climate shifts in the Antarctic Peninsula region (AP). ERA-40 and NCEP-NCAR reanalysis data were used.
