A variety of diyne and triyne π-electron bridges were hydrosilylated to afford the bis- and
tris(silylvinyl) π-electron bridges. The hydrosilylation products underwent substitution
reactions with a variety of compounds containing chromophore units to give fluorescent dye
substituted products. The easy access of the silyl hydrides may be applied to construct a
large number of copolymers.
