ANALYSIS OF THE ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES OF NITROFURAN DERIVATIVES

Nitrofuran derivatives belong to the group of synthetic antimicrobial agents and possess a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria, certain fungi, and protozoa. These compounds have been effectively employed in medical practice for many years in the treatment of urinary tract infections, intestinal diseases, and local inflammatory conditions. The antimicrobial activity of nitrofurans is associated with their influence on enzymatic systems, nucleic acid synthesis, and cellular metabolism within microorganisms. This study analyzes the chemical structure, mechanisms of action, antimicrobial activity, and clinical significance of nitrofuran derivatives. Based on scientific literature, pharmacological references, and microbiological investigations, the efficacy of nitrofuran preparations was evaluated. The findings demonstrated that nitrofuran derivatives occupy an important position in modern antimicrobial therapy and represent promising agents in combating antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.
