Data saved as Matlab files regarding the paper "Electromagnetic measurements and modelling of rocky and icy crust simulants to support planetary radar sounder exploration"
The measurements of complex permittivity of the three samples (L5 Ordinary Chondrite, Carbonaceous Chondrite CI simulant, Etna basalt) in dry and ice saturated conditions as a function of temperature and frequency.
Etna_Dry.mat, L5_dry.mat CI_Dry.mat contain data represented in Figures 1,2,3 of respectively the Etna sample, L5 ordinary chondrite and CI simulant in dry conditions as a function of frequency and temperature. The columns of the matrix of the complex permittivity are the data as a function of frequency (1601 points) at a fixed temperature. The rows of the matrix are the data as a function of temperature at a fixed frequency.
Etna_Ice.mat, L5_Ice.mat CI_Ice.mat contain data represented in Figures 4,5,6 of the Etna sample, L5 ordinary chondrite and CI simulant in ice saturated conditions as a function of frequency and temperature. The columns of the matrix of the complex permittivity are the data as a function of frequency (1601 points) at a fixed temperature. The rows of the matrix are the data as a function of temperature at a fixed frequency.
f: is the frequency (Hz)
T: is the temperature (K)
eps: is the complex permittivity measured during the experiment
eps_unc: is the uncertainty of the complex permittivity measured during the experiment
mu: is the complex permeability measured during the experiment
mu_unc: is the uncertainty of the complex permeability measured during the experiment
Note that Etna_Dry.mat and Etna_Ice.mat do not contain the complex permeability "mu" and the uncertainty on complex permeability "mu_unc", since the basalt is not a magnetic material.
Note that "NaN" are due to those values of imaginary parts of permittivity that are too small and, hence, not measureable.
