UK Data Archive

The UK Data Archive is an internationally acknowledged centre of expertise in acquiring, curating and providing access to social science and humanities data. We were founded in 1967, at the University of Essex, with the support of the then Social Science Research Council, with the aim of curating high-quality research data for analysis and reuse. The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has continued to provide long-term commitment to the Data Archive and we are now a significant part of their UK data infrastructure. Since 2005 we have been designated a Place of Deposit by the National Archives, allowing us to curate public records. The UK Data Archive is the lead organisation of the UK Data Service, which provides unified access to the UK's largest collection of social, economic and population data. Funded by the ESRC, the UK Data Service provides access to regional, national and international social and economic data, support for policy-relevant research and guidance and training for the development of skills in data use.英国数据档案馆（UK Data Archive）是国际公认的社会科学与人文数据采集、保管及提供访问权限的专业权威中心。本馆于1967年在埃塞克斯大学成立，彼时获社会科学研究理事会（Social Science Research Council）支持，初衷为整理高质量研究数据以供分析与复用。经济与社会研究理事会（Economic and Social Research Council，ESRC）长期为本档案馆提供支持，如今我们已是其英国数据基础设施的重要组成部分。自2005年起，本馆获英国国家档案馆（National Archives）认证为法定托管机构，可负责保管公共档案。英国数据档案馆是英国数据服务（UK Data Service）的牵头机构，该服务可统一访问英国规模最大的社会、经济与人口数据集合。该服务由经济与社会研究理事会资助，可提供区域、国家及国际层面的社会与经济数据访问权限，为政策导向型研究提供支持，并针对数据使用技能培养提供专业指导与培训。
